Laban na Tapat,
Laban ng Lahat

Last week saw a grisly carnage that outraged a nation. And though we might be unable to fathom what lurks in the twisted minds and dark hearts of monsters, one thing is certain: There is something seriously awry in the system that a crime against humanity such as this was allowed to happen.

The Maguindanao Massacre is the very manifestation of the corruption, the abuse, the arrogance in government. No holds barred, it is evil incarnate, allowed to roam in our motherland, to feed off the earth we till. And they dare to call themselves leaders.

It is against this backdrop that the first words of the Aquino-Roxas platform strike momentously: the national leadership is in need of transformational change, the people are crying out for change.

The game is afoot. With the overturning of the Penera decision by the Supreme Court, the political season is in full swing from now until May. It will be vicious, it will be cruel. But we will stand our ground.

We will remain steadfast because there is a hope, a dream, a change, a promise, a nation, a people and a future at stake. We will not waver because this, above all, is a fight for Justice: for the victims of the massacre, and the victims of a corrupted leadership.

-- Noynoy, in a speech before filing for candidacy

MANILA -- After Senators Noynoy Aquino and Mar Roxas initiated the investigation of the Maguindanao Massacre, Roxas reiterated that the investigation should not end with the raps against Ampatuan. If the platform is the "law," the credo is the spirit of the law. Avowed to by Noy, Mar, the Liberal Party senate slate, as well as Serge Osmeña, the Credo is a promise of democracy through democratic means, change through peace, justice, national reconciliation, and that government be accountable to the people. That government should perform its obligations, that governance is not power, but the mandate of the people. It will be a government governed by unshakable faith in the Filipino people. »read more

There are dreams, there are hopes and there are promises. But what stands in the way of a dream come true, a hope realized and a promise fulfilled are the agents of change (or of un-change).
