But as always, the truth will prevail. Ano ba kala nila sa ating mga Pinoy, mangmang? Definitely not. If internet participation is any indication, the nation is becoming more involved, more aware. Even Mar Roxas blogs about the internet's role in the wake of Ondoy's "bayanihan 2.0," and the role it will play this election season. As for the elections, Noy has reaffirmed that this will be an issues-based campaign. That's probably why he continues to lead by a mile, in the polls and online. It's about tangible frameworks, policies that can concretely advance the nation, and promises that will surely be kept (he's not, after all, your typical politician). Naturally, with issues, there must also be discussion. A forum. An opportunity for leaders to listen to their constituents, and to truly hear what they are saying. The online realm supplements that substantially. And if this jam-packed issue says anything, marami po tayong mapaguusapan. Some members of the media have asked us if we are afraid of forces and voices beyond our control as we embark on this first-of-its-kind eKampanya. You have only to fear if you have something to hide. |

Being on top has its downsides: Sen. Noynoy Aquino concedes he is now the victim of character assassination. Allegations set forth by Villar ally Rep. Crispin Remulla that the Aquino family engaged in a sweetheart deal with the administration is a misinterpretation of the facts, say Sen. Noynoy Aquino's supporters. Aquino denied he lobbied for the SCTEx roadway to be built on his family's land. He also denied claims he did not attend the C-5 hearings that implicate Sen. Manuel Villar. Remulla also asserted SCTEx was an unnecessary road to nowhere. SCTEx links major economic and industrial zones in Central Luzon. »Philippine Star

To say that corruption is a problem in the Philippines is a major understatement. It's a crisis. One solution is to vote righteously in the upcoming elections, and begin the change that will start from the top down. But do we have to wait until May? In the first of a two-part series, Rick Olivares explores corruption and its enablers, and comes to the realization that change must come from within. »read full story

Geri Villas of Filipino Free Thinkers plays devil's advocate and looks at things from the anti-RH side of the coin. You might be surprised at the conclusion. »read more
